April 17 - 27, 2007

Since 1978 the Singing Men of North Central Texas have been committed to missions. Beginning that year with a trip to England, and continuing for the next 29 years the group has used their music and visibility to help their partner churches reach out to their communities. The men have sung in England, Romania (two trips), Brazil (two trips), China, Spain, the northwest and the northeast United States. A professional men’s choir can get the attention of an entire city, and draw the community to the sponsoring Baptist church.

Many of those missions grew out of the Partnership Ministry of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, as did the trip to Austria. The BGCT had a five year partnership with the 25 churches of the Austrian Baptist Union. Singing Men were a part of that effort to encourage and support that partnership. Because the Czech Baptist Union is close by and requested our help we added three concerts in the Czech Republic.

More than any other prior mission the group focused on evangelism, and included an invitation for concert attendees to respond to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We learned that in 2005 the churches of the Austrian Baptist Union baptized 75 new believers. We asked God to encourage and challenge the Austrian Baptists by having at least 75 professions of faith in the four Austrian concerts alone.
