Breakthrough Mission - Update #3
Ivano-Frankivsk
Much like the other five nights, the commercial center of Ivano Frankivsk was evidently prepared with advertisement and promotion in the churches. In one regional newspaper with a circulation to over 60,000 homes there was a ¼ page full color ad.
All of this set a tone of expectancy.
The sixth concert on a Monday night again showed that God’s hand was on the entire tour - with 203 positive responses to the Gospel message in song, video testimony, and sermon. The nightly count now comes to a grand total of 1,312 people who have said, “Yes” to Jesus Christ by their own written response. As happened in Lviv, the Ukrainian youth pastor pled for the decision cards to be given to the church immediately so that they could begin follow-up at their Tuesday evening youth meeting. As a result, the support staff quickly tallied the responses and handed the cards over to the local ministry team. Youth Pastor Bogdan assured all involved that by the end of the week, each person would be contacted, with plans that two more contacts will be made to each person who made a positive response to the Gospel.
Michael shared with Breakthrough Band and the support staff that the hall in Ivano Frankivsk was constructed with plans for it to be a lecture hall dedicated to the promotion of atheism. During the years of communism it was used exclusively for this purpose alone. The evangelist said, “All of us will be telling our grandchildren of the honor that we have tonight to exalt Jesus Christ before the people of this city.” With that word of explanation – it is no wonder that the band and the preacher had a sense of passion and urgency to deliver their message. As bags were being packed, Allison Ware, a member of the support staff glanced back at the hall and said, “Thank you, Lord, for the freedom to proclaim Your Name!”
Pray for us in Khmelnitskiy
After a four-hour trip through the mountains on very rough roads, we arrived safely in Khmelnitskiy, ate a quick lunch at the church, dropped off bags where we will sleep tonight, and proceeded to the central concert hall. (See our home on wheels in the attached pictures!)
Every member of Breakthrough Band could in unison say, “Your prayers for tonight’s concert are vital!” It was discovered that through emails and a last-minute phone blitz, every person who recently attended a Michael Gott International event in Khmelnitskiy was personally contacted. The concert has also been advertised on buses, in newspapers and over the internet. We expect people to be standing around the walls. With this in mind, the support staff sends you the following urgent request for prayer.
Some band members have a cold virus, so pray:
- that the symptoms will be relieved quickly.
- that no one else on the team will get sick.
- that there will not be any secondary infections from this virus.
- and above all, that Jesus Christ will show His strength through human weakness.
