| Welcome
to Singing Men of Texas Spain Journal Prayer Concerns Tuesday, April 20 PRAISES - For our safe arrival in Spain. WE made it and so did our luggage and equipment. For the countless hours of planning, preparation, and prayer that have been invested in this trip. We especially thank God for the David Borgan family, our missionaries to Spain. For the opportunity to share the Lord in an area that does not have one Baptist church between here and Madrid (a three-hour drive). That tickets for our concerts are in great demand. For the "diplomatic corps" of mayors, generals, state workers, etc. who came on the trip to participate in forums with local mayors and dignitaries. REQUESTS - For health concerns among our group: Glenn Jones and Scott Cameron, who are ill; and Mark Shieldnight, who is recovering from a recent appendectomy. For a good night's rest for the whole group, so that we can do our best for the Lord. For God to open the doors for us to share the gospel in song with many, many Spaniards. For the Spirit of the Lord to move in a mighty way this next 9 days. For families at home. For the men to be able to clearly communicate their songs in Spanish - memorized! Wednesday, April 21 PRAISES - Glenn Jones is doing much better. Our first concert in the city of Coria was well received, with many being moved by the music and the prayer of Pastor Antonio Gómez (Baptist pastor from Córdoba). One man was led to the Lord by Mike Gonzales; please pray for Carlos as he begins his journey with Christ. REQUESTS - Continue to pray for the health of Scott Cameron and Mark Shieldnight. Pray for the concert in Badajoz on Thursday. Pray for David Borgan and his family, and for their work in Spain. Thursday, April 22 PRAISES - For seeds that are being planted in the region of Extremadura. For God allowing each of us to come on this trip. Health concerns - 100% of our men were able to participate in the concert. We praise God for our patient and gentle translators. The men are praising God for providing the means for us to come. REQUESTS - Rex Campbell, one of our B.G.C.T. consultants on the trip, received word that his brother has died this evening as a result of a rapidly progressing cancer. Rex will be traveling back to the U.S.A. tonight. Pray for our Singing Men and their ministries; some have decisions to make when they get home. Pray for our stamina as we stand through the concerts, after spending long days walking hills on cobblestones. Friday, April 23 PRAISES - For the inmates that made decisions for Christ. For good crowds and good spirits in our concerts today. For family and friends who are providing childcare for some of the group. For supportive church families who are surrounding our families with love. REQUESTS - For good weather for our outdoor concert in Mérida. Continued prayer for Rex Campbell and family. For strength for our voices and bodies. Saturday the 24th PRAISES- For wonderful weather for our outdoor concert; this has been one main concern. For two men who accepted the Lord at the concert tonight! For continued good health for our group, in spite of our schedule. REQUESTS - For God to work out the details of our concert in Córdoba on Tuesday. Continued safe travel as we have a long drive to Sevilla tomorrow. Sunday the 25 PRAISES - Praise Him for decisions that have been made. Twenty young men came forward at the prison, nine of which made professions of faith. Two men accepted the Lord at Mérida last night. Countless other seeds have been sown. Praise Him for Sarah Malpass, the Journeyman who is traveling with us. She is an invaluable help to us in many ways. The Borgan children are also very helpful in translation. REQUESTS - Continue to pray for God's will to be done in Córdoba. Pray for each person on the trip, that our attitudes will be totally Christlike and loving toward each other and toward those whose paths we cross on this trip. Monday the 26 PRAISES - Praise Him for answered prayer concerning Córdoba. We have just been informed that the concert will go on as originally planned tomorrow night. Praise Him for continued good weather. Praise Him that we have found another computer to use for these reports. REQUESTS - Continue to pray for tired legs and tired voices. Pray for our traveling safety as we have longer drives this next two days. Pray for the people's hearts to be open as they listen to God's word in song. Tuesday the 27 PRAISES - Praise Him for working out the details for the Córdoba concert tonight. Everything went very well. Praise Him for victory in helping us to have loving attitudes toward each other as we travel and work together so closely. Praise Him that the rain we had tonight did not dampen our spirits, nor those of the crowd who came to hear us. REQUESTS - Continue to pray for Rex Campbell's family. We got word that his brother's funeral was Sunday. Continue to pray for travel safety for our group as we travel to Madrid tomorrow. Pray for follow-up on concerts as contacts are made locally. Thursday the 29th PRAISES - Praise Him for our safe travel home. Praise Him for answered prayer concerning the possible overage charges for all our equipment. Praise Him for the decisions that were made this week. Praise Him for all of our missionaries around the world, who are making daily sacrifices to serve God in a different culture. Praise Him for working out the many details of the trip. REQUESTS - Pray for the ongoing work in Spain, and for our missionary team there. Pray for those who accepted Christ this week, that they will grow in their newfound faith. Pray for David Borgan, as he attempts to coordinate the process of making contacts with many who came to our concerts. Pray for those who have had seeds sown in their lives this week. Pray for possible future partnerships between Texas Baptists and Spain. |
